Day 2 – AIDA 1: Your First Breath-Hold Dive

We kick off with the AIDA 1 Freediving Course; an introduction to the magic of breath-hold diving. You’ll learn the fundamentals of safety, breathing techniques, and how to dive on a single breath. Then, take your first plunge into the stunning house reef, guided by experienced instructors.

Day 3 – 5  – AIDA 2: Deeper into the Blue

On day 3 we start the AIDA 2 Course, taking your skills to the next level. Learn more advanced theory, breathwork, equalization, and rescue techniques. You’ll train both in the classroom and in open water; all within the calm, clear environment of Marsa Shagra’s protected bay.

We continue our journey into the depths. Focus on technique, streamlining, and relaxation as you increase your comfort underwater. You’ll feel the progress in your body, your breath, and your mind; all while diving alongside colorful reef life.

On the final day of AIDA 2 training, you’ll complete the required dives and theory sessions to become a certified freediver. Celebrate your achievement; you’ve learned to dive deeper, longer, and safer, all on a single breath!

Day 6 – Freediving Fun Day: Explore the Reef

With your certification in hand, it’s time to dive for fun. Join two guided freediving sessions on the house reef or explore the area by zodiac. This is your chance to apply everything you’ve learned while enjoying the freedom of the sea.

How do I get to Red Sea Diving Safari's locations from Europe?

Most major European countries have direct flights to Marsa Alam international Airport, which is only 35 kilometers north of Marsa Shagra Village, 75 kilometers from Marsa Nakari Village and 150 kilometers from Wadi Lahami Village. A private bus will take you from the airport to the location of your choice and back. It is also possible to fly to Hurghada, or Luxor to transfer to any one of our villages.

Wifi

The village has internet access via Wi-Fi. Please ask at reception for more information. Also, please remember that due to the remoteness of our location internet access is not always as fast and efficient as other parts of the world!

Are there cosmetic items provided in the rooms?

Guests should bring their own shampoo, conditioner etc and towels. Towels for showering are provided in our Chalets and Deluxe Chalets only. For other accommodation types, shower towels and beach towels can be rented for €5 per week. Toiletries can be purchased from our shop in Marsa Shagra Village and there is also a small supermarket opposite Marsa Shagra Village.

Do I need any experience to join this trip?

No experience needed! The  course is designed for complete beginners. You just need to be comfortable in the water and able to swim.

What other excursions does Red Sea Diving Safari offer?

Desert Experiences Yourway offers several half day or overnight desert trips by jeep, quad, camel or horse, and you can even do an Astro Tour and where you can learn about the stars in the desert sky. We also offer excursions to Luxor/Aswan. The transfer will take the road from Marsa Alam over Edfu. There are no convoys anymore but the road via Edfu to Luxor is open for tourism transfers only between 6AM until 5PM daily, and with a special permission only. For more information, please contact Reception.

Is it safe to visit Egypt/Marsa Alam at the moment?

Marsa Alam sits 800km south of Cairo – at least 8 hours drive. The road to reach Marsa Alam is very secure, with three high security checkpoints between the border of the Red Sea Governorate and Hurghada (the 3rd being 5km north of El Gouna). At these checkpoints, luggage, people and cars are all fully checked. There are a further two large checkpoints to Marsa Alam, and another three to Wadi Lahami (plus a further three to Ras Banas). The Tourism Police, Coastguards and Military control the region making it isolated from anyone who is not a tourist or tourism worker. Marsa Alam has a small, close, population of only 10,000 people who all have an interest in tourism.

We also have our own security 24/7, patrolling the property, beach, entrance points and borders, and we have always had this, even before the revolution of 2011.

Tourism is a high priority for Egypt and the government is taking no risks, and sparing no expense to ensure that tourists feel safe, and are safe.

We recommend that all guests read the advice of their home governments before deciding whether to travel to Egypt. Although we are confident of the security and safety of Marsa Alam, we also want our guests to be aware about their government’s official view and how this might affect them, should they decide to travel.

Guests should be aware that the region currently featured in the media as being ‘high risk’ is a small, isolated area of North Sinai which is some 1000km and 12 hours drive from Marsa Alam City.

Do you have medical supply in the villages – what do I have to bring myself?

Our villages are equipped with plenty of first aid supplies: wound disinfectant, plasters and bandages, light pain killers, etc. Our doctors in Baro Medical are equipped with all professional medical supplies you might need in case of an emergency or an illness. For your own comfort you can bring insect repellant and insect bite creams – these items can also be purchased on site.
